HUGE SUCCESS FOR INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP AT THE ERS AMSTERDAM 2011
In the occasion of the ERS Congress in Amsterdam, DIMA ITALIA in collaboration with VIVISOL Deutschland organised an international workshop, which was widely attended by leading respiratory physicians. Go here to the workshop page.

PEGASO COUGH - Clinical study published on American Journal of Critical Care
The PEGASO COUGH was used with success in the clinical study “Prevention of extubation failure in high-risk patients with neuromuscular disease” carried out at the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit - City Hospital of Padova (Italy) from 2008 to 2010. The study was published in January 2011 by Vianello et al. on the Journal of Critical Care and can be downloaded at following the links - abstract and full article. The aim of the study was to examine a treatment protocol to support the weaning process of neuromuscular patients who underwent a positive pressure ventilation via endotracheal intubation due to an acute respiratory failure, caused in general by severe respiratory tract infections (bronchitis or pneumonia). Once extubated these NMD patients are at a high risk of reintubation or tracheostomy. With the new protocol these patients were treated with NIV plus cough assistance therapy. In fact, the combination of both proved to be more successful and the patients were less subject to extubation failure with consequent reintubation and trachestomy, compared to the second patient group which was treated with a conventional post intubation therapy. The PEGASO COUGH was reported to have an easy handling and to perform successfully the mechanically assisted coughing. The PEGASO COUGH was previously mentioned in other studies, which can be found on under “Reference/Studies”.

MULTILEVEL ST30 – Introduction to the Indian market
The MULTILEVEL ST30 is currently being introduced into the Indian market by an important partner, specialised in respiratory care and oxygen treatment and with a wide network.
The device offers a compact and small size combined with “top-notch” technology and software applications, to satisfy the highest needs of respiratory care:
  - a sensible and auto-adjusting trigger system
  - five different ventilation modes
  - target volume in all ventilation modes (except CPAP) thus offering also the praised PRCV mode, which combines the
advantages of volume controlled and pressure controlled ventilation
